Professor Strebulaev is an expert in finance who specializes in venture and angel capital, private equity, financial decision making, valuation, innovation, and corporate finance. His work has focused on investor decision making, financial risk assessment, and the effects of venture capital investment. Professor Strebulaev has extensive experience testifying as an expert witness at deposition and trial, including in federal courts and the Delaware Court of Chancery, on topics such as the structure of the venture capital market, the impact of venture capital investment, damages calculations, valuation analyses, and other finance topics. His research has been published in academic journals such as The Journal of Finance, The Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. His numerous research accolades include both the Jensen Prize for Best Paper in the Journal of Financial Economics and the inaugural Doriot Award for the Best Private Equity Research Paper for “How Do Venture Capitalists Make Decisions?” Professor Strebulaev is an award-winning teacher and the founder and longtime faculty director of the Venture Capital Initiative at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and coauthor of a popular finance book on the venture capitalist approach.
