Analysis Group Again Recognized as an Outstanding Global Economic Consulting Firm by Global Competition Review

January 2, 2025

Analysis Group has again been recognized as a leader on the 2025 Global Competition Review (GCR) GCR 100. The annual ranking highlights top antitrust economic consulting firms, evaluated by size of practice, reputation, and work on impactful competition matters over the previous year. The GCR 100 ranking noted that Analysis Group’s 432 competition economists “benefit from the outstanding leadership” of recent CEO and current Chairman Martha Samuelson and are “consistently engaged in some of the most high-profile competition matters in the US, UK, and EU,” including 240 litigation matters, 36 in-depth merger investigations, and 31 government investigations in the past year.

“Our consistent ranking among the top antitrust consulting firms is a reflection of the expertise of our consultants and their deep understanding of the global competition landscape, as well as the outstanding direction provided by former CEO Martha Samuelson,” said recently appointed CEO Pierre Cremieux. “I applaud my colleagues’ rigorous work on behalf of our clients.”

GCR noted Analysis Group’s significant role in many of the past year’s noteworthy antitrust cases around the world, including:

Groupe Canal Plus’s Acquisition of OCS and Orange Studio

Analysis Group supported French media company Groupe Canal Plus in its proposed acquisition of OCS and Orange Studio, subsidiaries of the French telecommunications company Orange SA. An Analysis Group team helped address concerns from the French Competition Authority about potential market overlaps in the telecommunications industry. The merger was cleared through Phase I with behavioral remedies.

CMA CGM’s Acquisition of Bolloré Logistics

Analysis Group supported major French shipping company CMA CGM during a Phase I investigation by the European Commission and competition authorities in New Caledonia and French Polynesia of CMA CGM’s intended acquisition of Bolloré Logistics. An Analysis Group team helped secure conditional clearance for the acquisition with behavioral remedies from the commission and structural remedies from the other authorities.

Cedar Fair’s Acquisition of Six Flags

Analysis Group supported amusement park operator Cedar Fair through a US Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into its planned merger with Six Flags Entertainment, a transaction involving 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and nine resorts across the US, Canada, and Mexico. An Analysis Group team helped secure clearance for the $8 billion merger from the DOJ.

In re: Lipitor Antitrust Litigation

Analysis Group supported defendants Pfizer and Ranbaxy in long-running litigation in which classes of direct-purchaser and end-payer plaintiffs alleged that the companies entered a patent settlement to delay the entry of generic versions of Pfizer’s blockbuster cholesterol treatment Lipitor to the market. A federal judge ruled in favor of the defendants, finding that the delay in generic entry was attributable to regulatory hurdles.
